  1. I will read “Descartes’s Error by Antonio Damasio. What a mind-blowing idea. I had always read and believed that emotion was the antithesis of reason— like those overly cute arguments between Mr. Spock and Doctor McCoy on the starship Enterprise. To imagine that reason is rooted in emotion changes everything I have ever thought about the subject.
